Being Centered — Editorial

About Us

Being Centered is an independent editorial site covering news, politics, and culture—built for readers who want clarity without the noise.

Why we exist

Modern media rewards polarization. Outrage travels faster than context, and certainty often substitutes for accuracy. That reality pushed me to step into the field and create a source of my own—one that treats the reader like an adult, not a target.

We’re not here to recruit you into a team. We’re here to help you understand what’s happening, why it matters, and what’s true (or at least truer than the loudest version of it).

What we publish

News & explainers

Straight updates, timelines, and “what we know / what we don’t” reporting.

Politics

Power, incentives, institutions, and consequences—without tribal assumptions.

Culture

Film, music, and the internet—treated as part of public life, not a side show.

Essays & analysis

Pieces that slow down, connect dots, and aim to make you smarter—not angrier.

How we work

  • Independent: not built around party loyalty, donors, or outrage cycles.
  • Fair-minded: we describe arguments accurately before critiquing them.
  • Evidence-led: we source where possible, and name uncertainty when it exists.
  • Human: written for people with lives, not avatars with opinions.

We don’t promise neutrality in the sense of having no point of view. We do promise a consistent standard: intellectual honesty, careful framing, and the discipline to separate facts from interpretation.

Why “Being Centered”

Attention is being pulled in every direction—by algorithms, fear, identity, and performance. Being centered means resisting that pull. It means reading to understand, not to win.

Who we are

Founded by Rais Tuluka, a writer and communications strategist. Being Centered is currently independent and growing.
